Student Life in University for Peace: A day of UPeacer

Thank you for coming my blog, I am an APS (Asian Peacebuilders Scholarship) scholar founded by the Nippon Foundation and now study in University for Peace (UPeace) established by the United Natons. I would like to share my UPeace life in Costa Rica!

A day of UPeacer

Finally, we finished our first course, UPEACE Foundation Couse while we still need to struggle to write an individual paper (2,500-3,500 words). We have four days break until next class, thus, it's a good time to look back over my UPeacer life.

School bus for UPeace

UPeacers can take free school buses to Upeace every morning on weekdays. The office informed us the bus schedule in the orientation, so you can get information about the time and place you take. You SHOULD be on time every morning!

Class: 8:45-11:45 from Monday to Friday

Basically, UPeace has ONLY ONE class in the morning (8:45-11:45) from Monday to Friday. Even though my last semester at Ateneo de Manila University (the Philippines) had two class (3 hours each) in a day, I was struggling in UPeace too to catch up every day's class because of plenty of readings (twice as Ateneo). However, other UPeacers seemed that they enjoyed their time after the class.

Lunch at UPeace cafeteria

UPeacers can take lunch at the cafeteria (daily buffet style), but unfortunately, we have to make a long line at lunchtime because it's ONLY one in UPeace. The place is around 5 dollars.

Activities after class

UPeacers can go back home after lunch (13:30) by the school buses, however, many of us enjoy some club activity (study club, sports, and outdoor activities). Yes, here is Costa Rica! Of course, you can enjoy soccer, Zumba, and a variety of Latin dance (Salsa, Merengue, Bachata)!

On the weekend, you can go to beach and some national parks! See animals and touch rich nature in Costa Rica!
